The East Orlando Youth Advisory Board of L.O.V.E. Our Youth has proudly concluded another remarkable year filled with growth, achievement, and meaningful service. Guided by the organization’s mission to empower and uplift youth, the advisory board, made up of dedicated teens including Aaliyah, Carlo, Charlisse, Dylan, Kemoi, Kristina, Faith, Malak, Zariah, Lauryn, and Marissa, has continued to make a profound difference in their community. Throughout the year, the group focused on initiatives that aligned with the mental health and teen programming goals outlined in their logic model. These efforts included promoting wellness, developing leadership skills, and fostering a sense of belonging among teens. Each member played a vital role in creating programs that not only supported personal growth but also encouraged positive peer connections and safe self-expression.
A major highlight of 2025 was the successful expansion of the Teen Lounge, a program that transformed from a long-term vision into a thriving reality. Previously open every other Friday, the Teen Lounge now operates every Wednesday and Friday, providing teens with a consistent and welcoming space to connect, learn, and recharge. This accomplishment represents the culmination of years of planning, collaboration, and leadership. With the guidance of staff and mentors, the board now manages the program and continues to maintain a fun, safe, and engaging environment for all participants. Programming has expanded to include mental health workshops, creative arts sessions, leadership nights, and team-building events, all designed to enhance communication, confidence, and community awareness. These activities directly support the board’s broader outcomes, helping teens build resilience, reduce social isolation, and develop lifelong leadership skills.
As the East Orlando Youth Advisory Board looks ahead, members remain committed to expanding their outreach and continuing to create meaningful opportunities for their peers. Their accomplishments this year are a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and the power of youth leadership in action. With every meeting, event, and program, these teens continue to demonstrate that when young people are given the tools and trust to lead, they can truly transform their communities for the better.
